Manufacture Update
almost 3 years ago – Sat, May 22, 2021 at 02:11:03 AM

Hi Backers,

We hope you all had a great week.

Following our last manufacturing update, mould amendments are now 50% complete. The remainder will be finished over the weekend/early next week.

As expected, this does move the timeline forward, most likely by 4 weeks. We do apologise for this but it is necessary in order to achieve the quality we desire.

There were multiple changes made to draft angles, surface texture, cooling feeds and injection point locations (all essential for a high quality product finish).

We will send a further update as soon as we receive the new batch run.

Please see below images of completed tampers with custom protective cases:

Have a great weekend.

 Dear Backers,

We're ready to start shipping many of the wonderful accessories that have been purchased through BackerKit, you should have received an email with a request to update your shipping address if required.

You will have 48h to update your address before it's locked for shipping, please take the time to check that this is the correct address.

We are super excited that we are a step closer to fulfilling CoffeeJack :)

Many thanks

Manufacture Update

Hi Backers,

The injection moulded parts have arrived and we have completed a thorough inspection of the first batch run.

Overall the parts look fantastic, aside from a few issues to overcome for the next run. We have compiled a document summarising any amendments required for the moulds. This document is now complete and has been returned to our manufacturer.

Images:

Please note any visable defects will be corrected. This is expected at this stage.

Solid Ca-nine out of ten inspection ;p

Mould amendments for the first batch is expected, given the complexity and tolerance requirements of Coffeejack. However, due to one machining error in particular we have been unable to test Coffeejack at high pressure.

Why have we been unable to test?

The piston bore has been manufactured with a draft angle considerably greater than within our specification document. This means that the piston cannot maintain pressure for the full length of its stroke due to the increasing draft angle.

How is this overcome?

Our manufacturer will have to make a mould amendment to decrease the draft angle in order to maintain the high pressure seal. This should be straight forward.

How long will it take to make the mould changes?

We have sent all required changes back to our manufacturer and have requested the shortest possible lead time to amend. Given the vast majority of the design is manufactured correct to specification, these changes to the mould should not take a long time. As soon as we have a  timeframe, we will send a further update. This will be available after our document has been fully reviewed with the injection moulding engineers.

Overall, we are very happy with the quality, strength and surface finishes. It is extremely exciting to receive manufactured parts!

We hope you have a great weekend

Manufacture Update: You'll like this one!
almost 3 years ago – Wed, Apr 28, 2021 at 03:32:27 AM

Hi Backers,

We have some great news!

This morning we were sent images of the the first injection moulded parts. We are so excited given this is the first time we have seen injection moulded parts in the 4 year development of Coffeejack!

Please note, these parts are unfinished regarding surface finish. The moulds only have a machined finish and are yet to be textured to achieve the final production quality.

Additionally, there are couple of mould amendments required to fix defects, visible in the images. However, this is a fantastic result for the first trial run.

The samples are now boxed and on their way to the UK for testing. We will expect to receive them within one week.

Once received, we will be extensively testing all components to ensure Coffeejacks reliability. As soon as we have received the parts we will send a further update.

Timeline is still estimated end of May, although we will have to assess once we receive components for inspection. We expect to have testing complete in 7-10 days from todays date (including shipping time).

Hope you’re having a great week.

Hi Backers,

Below are some images showing the injection moulds prior to surface finishing.

Next stage is to assemble all sliding sections once machining is complete next week. We will upload images as soon as we receive them.

Timeline is still on track :)

Hope you're all having a great week.
