Great news!
Three of the factories we work with are now back in full operation and we will be placing mass orders next week for the ‘add on’ items.
We have had lots of inquiries from backers who missed out on extras from the Backerkit survey. This is the last call for those wanting to order add ons, honouring the same price as the Backerkit survey. (Please note these prices will change after we receive the first production run).

There is significant progress from our last update given the situation. The factory are back to work and the prototype parts are currently being made.
We must approve these changes before we cut the tools for injection moulding. We want to be completely transparent with you all without any glossy updates containing false hope. But...things are looking great!
We thought, let's get a head start for the "add on" manufacture!
Summary being, its great to see the wheels are turning for production and we will continue to keep you frequently updated.

Manufacture Update

Hi Backers,
Hope you are keeping well.
Regretfully, we do not have anything to report that significantly differs from that of our last update. It was announced yesterday that lockdown in the UK is confirmed for a further three weeks. Our “design changes” prototype is still in limbo and we are awaiting updates on its arrival.
We were due to be in China now, approving the soft tool production phase. For obvious reasons, this has not been possible but we will re-arrange as soon as we possibly can. Given the size of the order we really need feet on the ground in the factory in China. There are too many aspects that need approving to ensure COFFEEJACK meets our high standards.
However, not all doom and gloom…
Some of the suppliers we have selected have now returned to full operation. We will be focusing on getting the ball rolling for these components to ensure we are ahead of the game when it comes to assembly in the long run.
We do apologise for the delay and we can only assure you we are eager to get things moving.
Updates are kept to a minimum at the moment but they will be more frequent when we have more to report.

24hr BLITZ PROJECT: COVID-19 FACE SHIELD ***PLEASE READ***

Hi Backers,
We decided to take a 24hr break from the COFFEEJACK project in light of the current COVID-19 situation coupled with an idea we had for a face shield solution (for health workers). We appreciate this may appear to be a slight contradiction to the last update regarding all our attention being on the COFFEEJACK project but time is of the essence and we’d rather work the weekends to make up the time (we usually do anyway!). Following this post we are straight back onto the COFFEEJACK project.
Please note, lead-times are not affected by this decision. The UK is officially on lockdown and prototype manufacture is out of our hands. This is simply using the delay time in a positive way for one day.
Introducing "PRINT SHIELD"....
PROBLEM:
Health professionals around the world are currently feeling the strain of this pandemic and in many locations, it's only going to get worse. Reports of doctors/nurses being advised to visit hardware stores as PPE is not available in many cases simply cannot happen.
They are our frontline in this battle and they need to stay safe from the virus.
Many 3D printing companies have opened their doors to allow their printers to manufacture face shields. This is absolutely fantastic and we’re sure our health care systems pays tribute to them.
However, many countries will not be so fortunate, they may not have access to 3D printers. Even in countries with access to sufficient additive manufacture, the demand may be too high. Although lead times are significantly cut down with 3D printing, they are still subject to delay in production.
As previously mentioned, this is something we are even experiencing as a business. We have multiple COFFEEJACK parts on order but we wouldn’t expect these companies to prioritise our parts over a device designed to protect our doctors/nurses.
OUR SOLUTION:
We have developed a protective shield ("PRINT SHIELD") to combat not only lead time issues but affordability and accessibility. After all, how do you manufacture a shield when production is down?!
Our shield can be printed using any standard desktop printer onto clear acetate. The downloadable file is shown below and we urge you all to push this solution through your social media channels, should you agree with its benefits.

We are not claiming that this solution is perfect. We appreciate it is not a fully sealed system but it certainly challenges the shields that are currently being used or worse yet, the shields our doctors/nurses are lacking.
Whether this is a quick solution before shield production catches up or the only option for many countries, it WILL provide a benefit and aims to minimise the effects of the virus.
It is free and completely open source. Simply click on the link below, download the file, print and assemble. It’s that simple. Instructions are yet to be made, this is something we can look into over the weekend/evenings should the post get some traction. Anything is worth a shot in this current climate.

Progress Update

Hello Backers,
The world is certainly facing a very strange time at the moment.
The primary message of this update is to reach out to all of you and send our best wishes and hope you are all staying safe. No doubt, many of you will have been affected by COVID-19 in some way or another. Although we are unable to know you all on a personal level, the fact you’ve joined us on this campaign means a great deal and you guys are very important to us.
We want to be as transparent as possible during this time about our progress with COFFEEJACK.
Before the COVID-19 breakout we had just approved the filter mesh and water spreader tool. Last week we received a small batch run for approval and they are fantastic! Just as a reminder, this is the new and improved water spreader (increased diameter for improved water-coffee coverage during extraction) . Please see images below:
As per our last update, we are still waiting for a couple of prototypes to approve the changes made during the campaign. Just to note, the term ‘prototype’ is used loosely. We are far beyond the proof of principal prototypes. The additional prototypes were only requested to make the improvements previously mentioned.
Once we receive the prototypes we will be approving the new and improved valves. The new mesh has already been approved and we will aim to begin mass manufacture for this component alongside preparing for machining the injection moulding tools.
As per our previous update, in order to expedite the approval phase, we brought prototyping to the UK. In all honesty, we are unsure as to whether this has helped us or not. We essentially moved from China to the UK to avoid further delays. Our UK Priminister has heavily encouraged people to work and stay at home. All pubs, clubs, cafes and gyms are closed with potential to increase the degree of lockdown this week. We are waiting for some parts from a UK based outsourcing company (we do not work directly with the CNC prototyping companies). We have been assured that they are minimising delays in any way possible but much of the UK is down. We promise to keep you updated as and when we hear more.
What have we been doing during this time?
We have been proactive in continuously improving the design to provide what would have essentially been our ‘version 2’ COFFEEJACK. It goes without saying, we have no intention to diversify and work on new products until COFFEEJACK is in your hands. Rest assured, this project has 100% of our focus and attention.
On a personal note, we have packed up the office and decided to work from home following government instruction. This has not affected our ability to continue working on the project in any way.
Understandably, the question regarding manufacture timeframe has been frequently asked. It would be unprofessional to give an estimate during this time of such uncertainty. The actions of many governments are not that of the ordinary, they are extreme measures to counteract this Pandemic. That being said, much like many others we do not know how this will affect ability to manufacture, import/export. Aside from this uncertainty, we will pull out all stops to ensure you receive the product promised, albeit delayed.
Finally, we would like thank those who have messaged/commented with such understanding for the situation. Primarily, health comes above everything in life. Just as long as you all know, we are working hard behind the scenes and using the time to provide you with a product that will further exceed your expectations.

Campaign Update! Coronavirus Delays

Dear Backers,
Firstly, we hope that everyone is safe and healthy during the Coronavirus pandemic. Everything is secondary (especially Kickstarter campaigns) to peoples safety so please look after each-other.
We've just heard that some of the factories we are planning to use for COFFEEJACK production have gone back to work. This means we can start some of the final part sampling before mass-production, images and feedback to follow once we receive these parts. The only positive that we can draw from the situation is that we have had the opportunity to spend many hours on the design perfecting the product - this really will be like receiving the version two as the version one.
We will keep you posted as and when we get some more timings.
